Day 11

We managed to discuss everything about our report and it's almost done!
now, just going to focus more on preparing the slides for our presentation.

~Day 9~

After what had happened yesterday, I spent 3 hours to reconstruct our circuit and make it neater. It did not turn out well when I tested with the 9V battery.Only one LED lighted up. I decided to bring it to class and discuss with Shahirah.

Apparently, it was our 555 timer that caused the problem. We changed the IC and the circuit is finally working!!
However, the time delay was fast. The question requested it to have a short pause of 3 seconds. But we are having less than 1 second's delay.
We googled up and finally found  the way to solve, it was the resistors and capacitor as shown below that control the delay.  555 timers

After several trials, we changed the values of both R1 and R2 to 100kohms and C to 10microA. Finally we got the desired result.

Day 8

Today, we learnt more about our circuit..1st of all, we had tried to run our circuit..
but we found out that our circuit did not meet the need of the question where a 3 seconds of delay was needed. so,we modified our circuit by adding a 51k resistor and all the 9 LEDs lights and then stopped for 3 seconds.
Unfortunately, there's another problem..our LED was not functioning properly. There were certain possibilities :
1) either the LED was burnt..or
2) the 4017 counter had damaged.
We are still finding out of what is wrong with our circuit.

At the same time, today we discussed about the details of our report..trying to finish it up sooner..=)

Day 7

Hmm..today we managed to run our circuit using our own breadboard..
at the same time, we were searching more information about sequencer,timer.. setup time n so on..since we haven't really learn about that in our lecture.
I think that's all..till then sayonaara =)

~Day 6~

Today is day 6 of our project.
After trying to connect the circuit in the lab yesterday, today we spent our time troubleshooting the problem we faced.
We try to connect it in a project board. But we just can't get the result.

~Day 5~

Hmm..our focus since the 1st day we got our project was to finish it A.S.A.P. and I would say that my partner and I really work hard to finish our project successfully. Therefore today we decided to enter the lab and build our circuit using the breadboard. While building the circuit we managed to recall back about the basic concept of how the circuit works. I mean how to put it series or parallel, how to determine the right arrangement of color for each resistor value and so on. We took about almost 2 and 1/2 hours to finish building our circuit.
These are some of the pictures of our circuit :
Top view of our circuit =)

Our circuit is about sequencer...timer and there is a delay. This picture was taken when we were adjusting the variable resistor.
This was when we maximize our variable resistor value.
Next, we decided to change the 2 of our LEDs to another color just to see whether it has the same result as the red or not.
So, i think that's all for today. Part of our job was done..and now we are trying to focus on doing our report. ^_^

Day 4

Today, we eventually build our circuit using the circuit maker 2000 and tried to simulate it. We had also tried to identify the errors occurred during the simulation.
This was our given task :

-Day 3-

Actually, today we had a congress about  the space explorers. Mostly, all of the astronauts came to UKM to give a brief explanation of what they have been doing in the space and their researches as well. Their mission now is to try to go to Mars to see whether there is a water supply or not.

So, basically today we managed to determine the 3 important things needed for this journal.

Main objective :
1) To know how the sequencer works
2) To know the function of timer and decade counter

Sub-objective : To display a jacket that runs 9 LEDs and stopped for 3 seconds.

Problem statement : To determine the flow of the circuit when the delay is produced by the 100u and 10k produces 3 seconds by the transistor inhibiting the 555 timer.

On top of that, we had also tried to simulate our circuit to know whether our connection is correct or not before we proceed to build the circuit.

~ Day 2 ~

It is Day 2 of our project.
Today we spend our evening doing Digital Lab.
We discuss on the main, sub-objective of the project and the problem statement for our mini project after the lab.

Day 1 of Mini Project

We kick-started our project today. We analyzed our project and listed down all the components needed.
After that, we collected the components needed from the lab assistant.
We have referred to the data sheet while looking for the components.
